RGB color data of a phtograph is converted to a music by algorithm. It based on the reseach application "RGB MusicLab". Take the visual and the audio information from your eyes and ears. Then process them in your brain as same digital data.

RGB Music News:
Web Art Project 2011 "RGB Music News" is an algorithmic composition. The MIDI file music archives are created from RGB (Red, Green, Blue) color data of the five Internet News Sites's photographs. This is one of RGB Music Projects by Kenji Kojima. It is composite artworks of visuals, musics and technologies that converts visual data into a music in attempts to discover relation between the sense of sight and hearing.

Now we have a huge amount of data on the Internet. An artist uses them for art materials by computer technologies. "RGB Music News" is a trial experimentaion of the RGB Music concept what news images bring into this world visually and musically.

If you like to listen the current news images, go to the web application "The Current News Music" above (it requires a plugin. the plugin does not work on Safari 5.1 so far). It has some arrangement functions which are changing instruments, tempo and scale filters. Gray scroll text fields in the archives of news sites are a score of PMD (one of MIDI descriptions).

FUKUSHIMA:
"Composition FUKUSHIMA 2011" was composed by archives of RGB Music News. The composition is related photographs of the Fukushima nuclear disaster in the order of their occurrence March 2011. The accident has not stopped yet, and still going to contaminate the water and soil. I wondered what an artist could do for this catastrophe. I wish people realize the fact of Fukushima.

RGB Color to Music:
The Web program "The Current News Music" converts RGB color pixels to a music. It based on the desktop application "RGB MusicLab" programmed by Kojima. It reads RGB value of pixels from the top left to the bottom right of a photograph horizontally. However an image contains millions of pixels then pixel data are reduced to a mosaic pattern for duration control. One mosaic color makes three notes of sounds, and the length of the note is determined by high or low value of the pixel. RGB value 120 is the middle C of the musical scale. The music is not an impression of a photograph of a musical variation. It composes a music from color data directly.

XYZ Music:
RGB values can be converted to XYZ coordinates, therefore an XYZ-3D object can be a music. Please see one of samples of the XYZ Music video "String Trio Sphere Random Points"
